The other thing nobody mentions: cheap non-stick coatings last 12–18 months even with careful use. If you use metal utensils, scrub with steel wool, or crank the heat past medium, that drops to 6 months. If non-stick is your daily driver, buy two mid-range pans and rotate them, rather than one expensive one — you'll get more usable years.
