A maternity pillow supports your belly, back, hips and knees during pregnancy and after — relieving the pressure points that prevent sleep in the second and third trimesters. Our range covers U-shape full body pillows, C-shape body pillows, wedge pillows for targeted support, and lumbar pillows for sitting. Maternity pillows from $40, with most full-body U-shape pillows between $80 and $150. Stock is held across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, dispatching within 1–2 business days.
When do I need a maternity pillow?
Most women start using a maternity pillow around 20 weeks, when the growing belly makes side-sleeping uncomfortable without support. By 28–30 weeks the pillow becomes essential — sleeping on your back is medically discouraged in the third trimester, and side-sleeping without support causes hip and lower-back pain through the night. The pillow also keeps the top knee from rolling forward and twisting the spine. After birth, the same pillow doubles as a feeding support for breastfeeding and bottle-feeding positions.
What shape maternity pillow is best?
| Shape | Best for | Length | Price guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| U-shape full body | Side and back support together | 1.4–1.8m | $80–$150 |
| C-shape body | Side support, smaller beds | 1.3–1.6m | $60–$120 |
| J-shape | Belly and knee support | 1.2–1.5m | $50–$100 |
| Wedge pillow | Targeted belly support | 30–40cm | $30–$60 |
| Lumbar pillow | Sitting and driving | 40–50cm | $40–$80 |
U-shape or C-shape — which one suits me?
U-shape pillows wrap around the body, supporting both the belly (front) and back at the same time. They are the most-recommended for late pregnancy, but they take up most of a queen bed — if you share with a partner, you may need a king bed or accept the partner is squeezed out. C-shape pillows support one side at a time and are easier to share a bed with, but you have to flip the pillow when you turn over. For first pregnancies, start with a C-shape or J-shape and upgrade to U-shape if you want more support; for second pregnancies, most women go straight to U-shape.
Quick buyer's checklist
- Bed size: U-shape suits queen-plus, C-shape fits double or smaller
- Fill: Polyester fibre for softness, memory foam for firmer support
- Cover: Removable washable cover is essential for hygiene
- Length: Should match or slightly exceed your height for full support
- Post-pregnancy use: Doubles as feeding support and toddler pillow
- Storage: Larger pillows need cupboard space when not in bed
What fill is best in a maternity pillow?
Polyester fibre fill is the most common — soft, lightweight, and machine-washable. It compresses over time, so a 2-year-old polyester pillow loses some loft. Memory foam fill is firmer and holds shape longer, but it traps heat (an issue in Australian summer pregnancies) and is heavier to reposition during the night. Microbead fill is the lightest and conforms easily but offers the least support. For most buyers, polyester is the practical choice for first use; memory foam suits women who want firmer support and live in cooler climates or have aircon.
How much do maternity pillows cost in Australia?
Maternity pillows at Simple Deals start from $40 for compact wedge and lumbar pillows. Most C-shape body pillows sit between $60 and $120, with full U-shape body pillows between $80 and $150. All pillows dispatch within 1–2 business days from our Australian warehouses.
What most sites won't admit
Almost every maternity pillow sold online in Australia is imported from China — including ours. The real difference is not where the pillow is made, it's what happens after it lands in Australia. Marketplaces dropship straight from overseas containers, which is why "fast delivery" stretches into six weeks. We import in bulk, hold stock across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, and ship from there.
The other thing nobody mentions: pillow size in compressed packaging. Maternity pillows ship vacuum-compressed in surprisingly small boxes, then expand to full size within 24–48 hours of unpacking. Some pillows reach full loft instantly, others take a couple of days. If your pillow seems too flat on arrival, leave it unwrapped on the bed for two days before judging — most reach final size by then.
Frequently asked questions
What if my pillow arrives damaged?
Contact us within 7 days with photos. We will arrange a replacement or refund under the 12-month warranty. Transit damage is uncommon with vacuum-packed pillows.
Is the pillow cover washable?
Most maternity pillow covers are removable and machine-washable on cold. The inner pillow itself is usually spot-clean only — check the care label.
How long does delivery take?
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane: 3–5 business days. Perth and Adelaide: 5–8 days. Regional and remote areas: 7–14 days.
Can I pay with Afterpay, Zip or PayPal?
Yes, all three. A $120 maternity pillow works out to four payments of $30 with Afterpay, four payments of $30 with PayPal Pay in 4, or a small monthly amount with Zip. Klarna is also available.
What's the warranty?
12 months on manufacturing defects, plus 15-day returns on unused pillows in original packaging.
Complete the pregnancy and new-parent setup
A maternity pillow handles your sleep, and a few pieces round out the new-parent kit. Most parents add three at the same time: a nursing pillow for after birth, a cot ready for the baby, and a baby monitor for the early months.
