A home treadmill gives you running and walking cardio in any weather, without leaving the house. Our range covers walking-pad foldable treadmills, mid-range running treadmills, incline treadmills, commercial-grade home treadmills, and under-desk walking pads. Over 60 treadmills in stock across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, from $400 walking pads to $1,800 commercial-grade running treadmills. Most orders dispatch within 1–2 business days.
Walking pad, running treadmill, or commercial-grade?
The difference is motor power and use case. A walking pad (compact, often foldable, $400–700) handles walking at 1–6km/h and is the right answer for under-desk use, light morning walks, and rehabilitation. It will not handle running at 10km/h+ without burning out the motor within months. A standard running treadmill ($700–1,200) handles walking, jogging and moderate running at 12–16km/h, suitable for daily use by one person under 90kg. A commercial-grade home treadmill ($1,200–2,000) handles serious running at 18–20km/h, multi-user households, and runners over 90kg. Buying a walking pad for running, or a running treadmill for under-desk use, is the most common mistake — match the machine to actual use.
What types of treadmills are available?
| Type | Best for | Motor (CHP) | Price guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walking pad / under-desk | Walking 1–6km/h | 1.0–1.5 | $400–$700 |
| Foldable home treadmill | Mixed walking and jogging | 1.5–2.0 | $600–$900 |
| Standard running treadmill | Daily running, one person | 2.0–2.5 | $800–$1,200 |
| Incline treadmill | Hill training, calorie burn | 2.0–3.0 | $900–$1,500 |
| Commercial-grade home | Multi-user, heavy runners | 3.0+ | $1,200–$2,000 |
What motor rating do I need?
The number that matters is continuous duty rating (CHP — continuous horsepower), not peak HP. Peak is a marketing number; continuous is what the motor delivers without overheating during normal use. Industry guidelines: 1.5 CHP for walking only; 2.0 CHP for jogging by one person under 80kg; 2.5 CHP for daily running by one person under 100kg; 3.0+ CHP for multi-user households or runners over 100kg. Most $500–700 treadmills advertised as "3HP peak" have a continuous rating closer to 1.5 CHP — fine for walking, not for running. Treadmill listings that don't specify CHP are usually hiding a lower number; always ask or check the manual before buying for running use.
Quick buyer's checklist
- Motor rating (CHP): 2.0+ for running, 1.5 for walking only
- Belt size: 130cm+ length for running; 110cm fine for walking
- Weight capacity: Buy 30kg above your bodyweight at minimum
- Max speed: 16km/h+ for running; 6km/h fine for walking pads
- Incline: 0–15% range adds hill training; 0–10% is fine for general fitness
- Cushioning: Decent deck cushioning reduces joint impact significantly
- Folding: Foldable units save space; check assembled vs folded dimensions
Where should I put the treadmill?
Three things matter. First, ceiling height — the user standing on the treadmill needs at least 30cm clearance above their head, accounting for any incline. A 2.4m ceiling room handles users up to about 1.85m tall on flat; a 2.7m ceiling handles incline running. Second, floor type — treadmills produce vibration that travels through floors; a rubber mat underneath dampens both vibration and noise. On upper floors of houses, this matters a lot. Third, clearance — leave 1m behind the treadmill (for safe step-off) and 60cm beside it for getting on and off. A treadmill placed against a wall with no side clearance is more dangerous than placed centrally.
How much do treadmills cost in Australia?
Treadmills at Simple Deals start from $400 for walking-pad models. Most quality home running treadmills sit between $700 and $1,200, with commercial-grade and incline-capable units running higher. All treadmills dispatch within 1–2 business days from our Australian warehouses.
What most treadmill sellers won't admit
Almost every treadmill sold online in Australia is imported from China — including ours. The real difference is not where the treadmill is made, it's what happens after it lands in Australia. Marketplaces dropship straight from overseas containers, which is why "fast delivery" stretches into six weeks. We import in bulk, hold stock across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, and ship from there.
The other thing nobody mentions: treadmill motors die from heat, not wear. Running at the top end of a motor's capacity for hours generates heat that the motor can't dissipate quickly enough, eventually frying the controller board. The fix is buying a motor rated 25–40% above your actual use — if you'll be jogging at the equivalent of 2.0 CHP load, buy a 2.5 CHP machine. The extra cost is around $100–200; the lifespan difference is typically 3–5 years versus 8–12. Treadmill warranties usually cover the motor for 5–1,12 years; the deck and belt for 1–2. The motor warranty is the one to read carefully.
Frequently asked questions
What if my treadmill arrives damaged?
Contact us within 7 days with photos. We will arrange a replacement or refund under the 12-month warranty. Treadmills ship in one large box; check the deck and motor housing on arrival before assembly.
How long does assembly take?
Walking pads: 5–10 minutes (largely pre-assembled). Foldable home treadmills: 30–60 minutes. Larger running and incline treadmills: 60–120 minutes for two people. Tools and instructions are included.
How long does delivery take?
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane: 3–5 business days. Perth and Adelaide: 5–8 days. Regional and remote areas: 7–14 days. Larger treadmills take 1–2 days longer due to freight.
Can I pay with Afterpay, Zip or PayPal?
Yes, all three. A $900 treadmill works out to four payments of $225 with Afterpay, four payments of $225 with PayPal Pay in 4, or roughly $75 a month with Zip over 12 months. Klarna is also available.
What's the warranty?
12 months on manufacturing defects, plus 15-day returns on unassembled treadmills in original packaging. Motor warranties vary by model; check the product page for specifics.
Complete the cardio setup
A treadmill handles the cardio, and a few pieces round out a home fitness setup. Most users add three at the same time: a fitness machine as a second cardio option (rowing or cycling), a weights set for strength on rest days, and a yoga mat and foam roller for warm-up, cool-down and recovery.
