Media Storage

Media storage keeps DVDs, CDs, games, consoles and AV gear sorted instead of stacked on the floor or spread across the TV unit. We stock over 30 media storage units — cabinets, tower racks and disc storage — from around $48. Stock is held across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, so orders dispatch within 1-2 business days.

What types of media storage are there?

Media storage comes in a few forms. A media cabinet is an enclosed unit with doors or drawers that hides discs and gear behind a clean front. A tower rack is a slim open shelf designed to hold discs in rows, taking little floor space. A disc storage box or case holds a large number of discs compactly, useful for a collection that does not need to be on display. Choose an enclosed cabinet to hide clutter, or an open tower to keep a collection visible and easy to browse.

How much media storage do I need?

Work out roughly how many discs, games and pieces of gear you need to store, then check the stated capacity of the unit. Disc collections take more space than people expect — standard DVD cases are about 1.5cm thick, so a hundred discs need around 1.5 metres of shelf run. Allow room to grow if the collection is still building. For consoles and AV gear, check the shelf height and depth on the product page against your equipment, since gaming consoles and receivers need ventilation space around them.

Quick buyer's checklist

  • Capacity: Check the disc or unit count against your collection
  • Enclosed or open: Cabinets hide clutter, towers keep discs visible
  • Gear shelves: Confirm shelf height and depth fit consoles and AV units
  • Ventilation: Leave airflow space around consoles and receivers
  • Room to grow: Allow extra space if the collection is still building
  • Flat-pack delivery: Units ship boxed and fit through 80cm doorways

Where should media storage go?

Media storage usually sits near the television and the rest of the AV setup. A media cabinet can stand beside or below the TV unit, keeping discs and gear within reach but out of sight. A slim tower rack fits into a narrow gap beside an entertainment unit or in an alcove. If the collection is large, a dedicated cabinet against a nearby wall keeps it together without crowding the TV unit itself. The aim is to keep everything that belongs to the entertainment setup in one organised spot.

How much does media storage cost in Australia?

Media storage at Simple Deals starts from around $48 for compact disc cabinets. Most mid-size cabinets and tower racks sit between $55 and $120, with larger multi-shelf designs at the higher end. All units dispatch within 1–2 business days from our Australian warehouses.

What most furniture sites won't admit

Almost every media storage unit sold online in Australia is imported from China, Vietnam, Malaysia or Indonesia — including ours. Where the unit is made is not the real difference between online furniture retailers. What matters is what happens after the stock lands in Australia. Marketplaces dropship straight from an overseas container, which is why their "fast delivery" stretches into six weeks. We import in bulk, hold stock across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, and ship from there — the same imported unit, dispatched in 1–2 business days.

Frequently asked questions

What if my media storage arrives damaged?
Contact us within 7 days with photos. We will arrange a replacement or refund under the 12-month warranty. Transit damage is uncommon with flat-pack units, and we work to resolve any claim quickly.

How long does delivery take?
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane: 3–5 business days. Perth and Adelaide: 5–8 days. Regional and remote areas: 7–14 days.

Can I pay with Afterpay, Zip or PayPal?
Yes, all three. A $100 media cabinet works out to four payments of $25 with Afterpay, four payments of $25 with PayPal Pay in 4, or a small monthly amount with Zip. Klarna is also available.

What's the warranty?
12 months on manufacturing defects, plus 15-day returns on unassembled units in original packaging.

Complete your living room

Media storage organises the AV setup, and a few pieces complete the room. Most buyers add three at the same time: a TV unit for the screen and gear, a bookcase for books and display, and cube storage for boxed items.
