Bike accessories cover the gear that turns a basic bike into a comfortable, safe and capable ride — helmets, lights, pumps, repair kits, locks, racks and cycling clothing. Our range covers cycling helmets, front and rear bike lights, floor and hand pumps, puncture repair kits and spare tubes, U-locks and chain locks, panniers and bike bags, bike racks and carriers, and cycling gloves and accessories. Over 40 bike accessories in stock across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, from $15 patch kits to $200 carrying racks. Most orders dispatch within 1–2 business days.
What bike accessories should I buy first?
Five items are essential for any new bike. A helmet that fits properly (compulsory by law in all Australian states for any age). A front white light and a rear red light (legally required for night riding). A floor pump with a pressure gauge (tyres lose pressure weekly even when unused). A puncture repair kit and at least one spare tube. A bike lock rated for your area's theft risk (basic cable for low-risk areas; U-lock or chain for cities). These five items cost $100–200 total and prevent the most common issues new cyclists face. Add panniers, racks and clothing once you know how you'll actually use the bike.

| Front and rear lights | Night riding (legal) | $25–$150 | 2–5 years |
| Floor pumps | Weekly tyre top-up | $30–$120 | 5–10 years |
| Repair kits and tubes | Puncture repair | $15–$50 | Use as needed |
| Locks (U-lock, chain) | Theft prevention | $30–$200 | 5–10 years |
| Panniers and bags | Commuting, touring | $50–$200 | 3–7 years |

How do I pick a helmet that fits properly?
Measure your head with a soft tape, 2cm above the eyebrows around the widest part. Match to the helmet's sizing range — most helmets come in three sizes: small (52–56cm), medium (54–58cm), large (58–62cm). The helmet should sit level (front rim 2 fingers above the eyebrows), feel snug all around without pressure points, and stay put when you nod hard with the straps undone. If you can move the helmet more than 2.5cm in any direction with the straps on, it's too loose. Replace helmets every 3–5 years even without a crash — the foam degrades from UV exposure and sweat. Always replace after any impact, even one that didn't visibly damage the helmet.
Quick buyer's checklist
- Helmet certification: AS/NZS 2063 is the Australian standard — essential
- Light brightness: 200+ lumens for front; 50+ for rear; both flashing legal
- Pump valve: Dual-head (Presta and Schrader) covers all bikes
- Tube size: Check tyre sidewall for exact size (e.g. 700x32c, 26x2.0)
- Lock rating: Sold Secure or ART rating for high-theft areas
- Pannier mount: Most racks use standard QR clip; check compatibility
Tube vs tubeless — do I need to upgrade?
For casual riding, tube tyres are fine and easier to maintain. For mountain biking, road racing or anyone tired of regular punctures, tubeless is worth the upgrade. Tubeless tyres use sealant that self-repairs small punctures (the difference between a slow leak and a flat tyre); they can run lower pressures for better grip and comfort, and they shed weight by eliminating the tube. The downside is a more complex initial setup (tubeless-ready rims, sealant, regular sealant top-ups every 4–6 months). For new cyclists, stick with tubes for the first year. For active cyclists doing 100+ km a week, tubeless saves enough punctures to be worth the change.
How much do bike accessories cost in Australia?
Bike accessories at Simple Deals start from $15 for patch kits and basic tools. Most quality lights, pumps and locks sit between $30 and $150, with high-end racks, panniers and cycling clothing running higher. All bike accessories dispatch within 1–2 business days from our Australian warehouses.
What most bike shops won't admit
Almost every bike accessory sold online in Australia is imported from China or Taiwan — including ours. The real difference is not where the accessory is made, it's what happens after it lands in Australia. Marketplaces dropship straight from overseas containers, which is why "fast delivery" stretches into six weeks. We import in bulk, hold stock across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, and ship from there.
The other thing nobody mentions: bike helmet "compliance" is more confusing than necessary. Helmets sold legally in Australia must meet AS/NZS 2063 — a sticker inside the helmet confirms this. Helmets bought from overseas (Amazon US, Aliexpress) often only meet US or European standards and are technically not road-legal in Australia, even if they look identical to certified versions. Police rarely enforce this, but in a serious crash, insurance disputes can refer to helmet certification. Always check the certification sticker on any helmet that's a notable discount from the standard price — if it's missing AS/NZS 2063, the saving isn't worth the legal grey area.
Frequently asked questions
What if my bike accessory arrives damaged?
Contact us within 7 days with photos. We will arrange a replacement or refund under the 12-month warranty. Helmet packaging is designed to protect the helmet during transit; never use a helmet that shows damage on receipt.
Will the rack fit my car?
Check the rack's compatibility list against your car's make, model and year. Hatchbacks need straps that fit boot lid shape; tow-ball racks need a tow bar fitted; roof racks need crossbars already installed.
How long does delivery take?
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane: 3–5 business days. Perth and Adelaide: 5–8 days. Regional and remote areas: 7–14 days.
Can I pay with Afterpay, Zip or PayPal?
Yes, all three. A $150 accessory bundle works out to four payments of $37.50 with Afterpay, four payments of $37.50 with PayPal Pay in 4, or a small monthly amount with Zip. Klarna is also available.
What's the warranty?
12 months on manufacturing defects, plus 15-day returns on unused accessories in original packaging.
Complete the cycling setup
Bike accessories cover the safety and maintenance basics, and a few pieces round out a full cycling kit. Most cyclists add three at the same time: bikes if upgrading the frame itself, light weights for off-bike strength training (helps climbing), and recovery accessories like a foam roller for tired legs.
