Slides

A kids' slide gives little ones safe sliding fun in the backyard or playroom, without the cost of a full play set. Our range covers plastic slides, climb-and-slide combos, slide-with-basketball-hoop sets, and larger climbing frames with built-in slides. Most pack flat for storage and assemble in 15–30 minutes with basic tools. We stock kids' slides from $80 single slides to $400 multi-feature play sets across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, dispatching within 1–2 business days.

What age is a kids' slide for?

Most kids' slides are rated 2–6 years, but the actual range depends on the slide height and weight rating. A small toddler slide (under 1m platform height) suits 18 months to 4 years. A standard kids' slide (1–1.5m platform) suits 3–7 years. Larger climbing frames with slides extend the range up to 10 years. Always check the age range and weight capacity on the product page — children outside these limits either find the slide too small and lose interest, or risk damage to the structure.

What types of kids' slides are available?

Type Best for Price guide Height
Toddler slide Ages 18m–4yr $80–$150 60–90cm
Single slide Ages 3–7 $120–$250 1–1.5m
Climb-and-slide Ages 3–7 $150–$300 1–1.5m
Slide with hoop or accessories Ages 3–8 $180–$350 1.2–1.6m
Play frame with slide Ages 4–10 $300–$700 1.5–2m

Indoor or outdoor — which slide works where?

Plastic slides work indoors and outdoors, but UV exposure is the difference. Indoor slides do not need UV-stabilised plastic, so they can be cheaper. Outdoor slides exposed to Australian sun need UV-stabilised HDPE plastic, which costs more but does not fade or become brittle within a year. Check the material spec before placing an outdoor slide in direct sun — non-UV plastic cracks at the slide nose and rails within 6–12 months. Most listings state whether the plastic is UV-treated; if it does not say, assume indoor use only.

Quick buyer's checklist

  • Age range: Match to your child's age and weight, with room to grow
  • Material: UV-stabilised HDPE for outdoor, standard plastic for indoor only
  • Anchoring: Larger slides need ground stakes or sandbag weights
  • Assembly time: 15–45 minutes depending on size; tools usually included
  • Soft landing: Place on grass, sand or a play mat, not concrete
  • Storage: Check if the slide disassembles for off-season storage

How do I keep a kids' slide safe?

Slide safety comes down to four checks. First, the landing area: at least 1.5m of clear soft ground (grass, sand, or a 3cm-plus play mat) at the bottom of the slide. Concrete or pavers turn a normal fall into a head injury. Second, age-appropriate height: a 2-year-old on a 1.5m slide is a problem waiting to happen. Third, stability: kids' slides need to be on flat ground; a slight slope tips the slide when a child climbs. Fourth, supervision for under-5s — most slide injuries happen when an older sibling pushes a younger child or rides down with them.

How much does a kids' slide cost in Australia?

Kids' slides at Simple Deals start from $80 for small toddler slides. Most standard single slides sit between $120 and $250, with climb-and-slide combinations and larger play frames running higher. All slides dispatch within 1–2 business days from our Australian warehouses.

What most sites won't admit

Almost every kids' slide sold online in Australia is imported from China — including ours. Where the slide is made is not the real difference between online retailers. What matters is what happens after the stock lands in Australia. Marketplaces dropship straight from overseas containers, which is why "fast delivery" turns into six weeks. We import in bulk, hold stock across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, and ship from there.

The other thing nobody mentions: slide surface temperature. Plastic slides in direct Australian summer sun reach 60–70°C — hot enough to burn bare legs in seconds. Light-coloured slides stay cooler; dark blue and red slides get the hottest. If your slide sits in full sun, either position it in afternoon shade or accept that summer use is mornings only.

Complete the kids' play area

A slide handles the active sliding fun, and a few pieces complete the play space. Most parents add three at the same time: inflatable play for bigger play days, a sand pit for quieter play, and a cubby house for shaded pretend play.
