The other thing nobody mentions: comfort vs limit rating. Sleeping bags have two temperature ratings. "Comfort" is where you sleep warm. "Limit" is where you survive but shiver. Budget bags list the limit rating in big text and comfort rating in fine print. If you're camping at 5°C, you need a bag with a 5°C comfort rating not a 5°C limit rating.
