Salon fitouts are unforgiving on cheap equipment. A chair that pumps 40 times a day, a facial bed that adjusts thousands of times a year, trolleys wheeled across tile floors constantly. Our range covers hydraulic styling chairs, backwash basins, facial and beauty beds, trolleys and nail tables. Salon equipment from $149, with most quality styling chairs between $249 and $899. Stock is held across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, dispatching within 1–2 business days.
What's the best chair for a barbershop?
A wide-base hydraulic chair with reclining backrest, headrest and footrest support. Look for weight rating up to 150kg minimum, sealed hydraulic base and heavy-duty PU or genuine leather upholstery. Rotating base with lockable position. Budget $549–$1,299 for a chair that survives 5+ years of daily commercial use. Anything under $300 is home-use grade and will fail within 12–18 months of real barbershop traffic. Base weight matters more than most buyers realise — under 15kg base and the chair tips when clients rise.
What types of salon equipment are available?
| Type | Best for | Key spec | Price guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hydraulic styling chair | Hair salons, barbershops | Base weight, hydraulic seal | $249–$899 |
| Backwash basin | Hair salons | Neck support, plumbing | $399–$1,499 |
| Facial / beauty bed | Skin, brow, lash, massage | Adjustment mechanism | $349–$1,299 |
| Trolley / cart | All salon types, tool storage | Wheel quality, drawers | $149–$449 |
| Nail table | Nail salons, home businesses | Dust extraction fitment | $249–$699 |
How much space does a salon station need?
Each styling station typically needs 1.8m x 1.5m minimum — chair, styling area, and space for the stylist to move around the client. Backwash basins add another 1.5m of length for the chair recline. Local council commercial layouts often specify minimum spacing per station — check before committing to a fitout. Cram stations closer and stylists bump elbows; space them wider and rent becomes unmanageable per chair.
Quick buyer's checklist
- Hydraulic seal: Sealed pump for commercial-frequency use
- Upholstery grade: Commercial PU leather resists salon chemicals
- Frame material: Welded steel outlasts bolt-together
- Base weight: 15kg+ for stability when clients rise
- Wheel quality: Rubber castors on trolleys; plastic scratches tiles
- Warranty: Local AU warranty support matters for commercial gear
Can I use a home-grade chair for a commercial salon?
Not recommended. Home-use chairs are rated for occasional use (3–5 times a week) and typically 100kg weight limits. Commercial chairs are rated for daily use, higher weight limits and salon-chemical resistance. Buying home-grade for commercial saves money upfront and costs replacement within a year. The reverse — buying commercial for a home salon — is fine and often lasts decades.
How much does salon equipment cost in Australia?
Salon equipment at Simple Deals starts from $149 for trolleys and basic stools. Most hydraulic styling chairs sit between $249 and $899, with backwash basins and facial beds from $349 to $1,499. All items dispatch within 1–2 business days from our Australian warehouses.
What most sites won't admit
Almost every piece of salon equipment sold in Australia is manufactured in China, Vietnam or Taiwan — including ours. The real difference is not where the equipment is made, it's what happens after it lands in Australia. Marketplaces dropship straight from overseas containers, which is why "fast delivery" stretches into six weeks. We import in bulk, hold stock across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, and ship from there.
The other thing nobody warns commercial buyers about is hydraulic seal quality. A hair salon chair pumps 20–40 times per day, every day. A cheap hydraulic base has an unsealed pump and non-standard seal materials. The seals dry out or degrade under salon-chemical spray-back within 12–18 months. The chair starts creeping down under client weight, then loses lift entirely. Replacing a hydraulic base costs almost as much as a new chair. Sealed hydraulic pumps with commercial-grade seals last 5+ years of daily salon use before they need attention.
Frequently asked questions
What if my salon equipment arrives damaged?
Contact us within 7 days with photos. We will arrange a replacement or refund under the 12-month warranty. Transit damage is uncommon with properly packed salon gear.
How is the chair assembled?
Hydraulic styling chairs typically ship in 3 pieces (base, seat, back). Assembly takes 20–40 minutes with basic tools included. Some backwash basins require plumbing work — factor a plumber if the salon layout needs adjustment.
How long does delivery take?
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane: 3–5 business days. Perth and Adelaide: 5–8 days. Regional and remote areas: 7–14 days.
Can I pay with Afterpay, Zip or PayPal?
Yes, all three. A $699 hydraulic styling chair works out to four payments of $174.75 with Afterpay, four payments of $174.75 with PayPal Pay in 4, or roughly $59 a month with Zip over 12 months. Klarna is also available.
What's the warranty?
12 months on manufacturing defects, plus 15-day returns on unopened equipment in original packaging.
Complete the salon fitout
Chairs are one piece of the fitout. A few things go with them. Most fitout buyers add three at the same time: mannequins for retail-facing display, cosmetic storage for product and tool organisation, and storage for back-of-house stock rotation.
