What size bar fridge do I need?

Match capacity to use. Under-desk and bedroom use: 40–60L holds roughly 30–40 stubbies or 25–30 cans plus a few snacks. Entertainment area or home bar: 90–120L holds 60–80 stubbies plus mixers, soft drinks and ice trays. Garage or outdoor entertaining: 130–180L handles serious party stocks plus food. The mistake most buyers make is undersizing for hosting — a 60L fridge crammed for a single party means warm drinks within an hour of guests arriving (cold air escapes every time the door opens, and a crammed fridge has poor airflow). For people who host more than monthly, go one size up from your everyday needs. Bar fridges also need to leave 5–10cm of clearance behind and at the sides for compressor heat dissipation — cramming a bar fridge into a tight cupboard kills the compressor within 2–3 years.

What bar fridge types are available?

Glass door or solid door?

It depends on use. Solid-door bar fridges are more energy-efficient — the insulation is better and the contents aren't exposed to room light, which can degrade beer over time. Glass-door beverage centres look great in entertainment areas and let you see contents at a glance (no need to open the door to check stock), but they use 25–40% more electricity than solid-door equivalents and shouldn't be in direct sunlight — the contents will heat-cycle as light warms the glass. Glass-door units with double-pane glass and UV-tinted coating offset some of this. For everyday utility, solid door. For a stylish home bar where the display matters, glass door, but place it out of direct light.

What most appliance stores won't admit

Almost every bar fridge sold online in Australia is made in China — including ours. The real difference is not where the fridge is made, it's what happens after it lands in Australia. Marketplaces dropship straight from overseas containers, which is why "fast delivery" stretches into six weeks. The other thing nobody mentions: bar fridges with thermoelectric (Peltier) cooling don't actually refrigerate — they cool by 15–20°C below ambient room temperature. In a 30°C summer kitchen, a thermoelectric bar fridge runs at 10–15°C, which is too warm to keep beer properly cold and dangerous for any food storage. Real refrigeration requires a compressor (the same technology as a full-size fridge). Compressor bar fridges cost $50–100 more but actually work in Australian summers. Always check the cooling type before buying — thermoelectric units are fine for offices in air-conditioned buildings, not for entertaining areas, garages, or outdoor use.

How long until the bar fridge is ready to use?
Let the bar fridge stand upright for 4 hours after delivery before plugging in (compressor oil settles). Allow 2–4 hours to reach operating temperature before loading drinks.

How long does delivery take?
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane: 3–5 business days. Perth and Adelaide: 5–8 days. Regional and remote areas: 7–14 days.

Can I pay with Afterpay, Zip or PayPal?
Yes, all three. A $400 bar fridge works out to four payments of $100 with Afterpay, four payments of $100 with PayPal Pay in 4, or roughly $33 a month with Zip over 12 months. Klarna is also available.

What's the warranty?
12 months on manufacturing defects, plus 15-day returns on unused bar fridges in original packaging. Compressors carry separate 3–5 year warranties listed on the product page.
