Kids' cars cover everything from push-along walker cars for new toddlers to pedal-powered go-karts for primary-schoolers — ride-on toys without the batteries, motors and charging that come with electric models. Our range covers push cars, push-and-ride convertible cars, pedal cars, sit-and-scoot ride-ons, and toy cars for floor play. Kids' cars from $50, with most quality ride-on options between $100 and $300. Stock is held across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, dispatching within 1–2 business days.
What age is each type of kids' car for?
Different car types suit different stages. Push-along walker cars suit 9 to 18 months — a child who is starting to stand and walk uses the car to balance and push along. Sit-and-scoot ride-ons suit 12 to 36 months; the child sits on the car and pushes with their feet on the ground (no pedals). Push-and-ride convertibles work from 12 to 48 months — they have a parent-push handle for younger kids that detaches when the child can ride independently. Pedal cars suit 3 to 7 years, once the child has the leg strength to pedal. Match the car to where your child is now, not where you hope they'll be in a year.
What types of non-electric kids' cars are available?
| Type | Best for | Age range | Price guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Push-along walker car | Learning to walk | 9–18 months | $50–$100 |
| Sit-and-scoot ride-on | Toddlers, foot-propelled | 12–36 months | $60–$150 |
| Push-and-ride convertible | Parent push then ride | 12–48 months | $100–$250 |
| Pedal car / go-kart | School-age kids | 3–7 years | $150–$400 |
| Toy cars for play | Floor and table play | 3+ years | $15–$100 |
Push, scoot, pedal or electric — which one for which age?
The progression follows the child's development. From 9–18 months, walker push cars help the child practice walking; the car provides balance support. From 12–36 months, sit-and-scoot ride-ons (like classic Cozy Coupe-style cars) build leg coordination and let kids self-direct. From 2–4, push-and-ride convertibles bridge the gap; parents push the car around the park while younger kids enjoy the ride, then the same car becomes a sit-and-scoot when the parent handle comes off. Pedal cars suit 3–7 once the legs are long enough. Electric ride-ons (in a separate collection) suit 3+ for fast driving. Most kids own 2–3 cars across their first 6 years.
Quick buyer's checklist
- Age range: Match to child's current size and ability, not future
- Weight rating: Most ride-on cars handle 25–40kg
- Stability: Wide wheel base stops the car tipping on turns
- Storage compartment: Many ride-ons have under-seat storage for small toys
- Wheels: Solid rubber wheels last longer than plastic on outdoor use
- Assembly: Push cars and toy cars usually no assembly; pedal cars 30–60 min
Push-and-ride or sit-and-scoot for a 2-year-old?
If you want a car the toddler uses outside in the park, push-and-ride works better — you push them around with the parent handle, and they sit and watch the world. If you want a car the toddler uses indoors or in the backyard and powers themselves, sit-and-scoot works better. Many parents buy both — the sit-and-scoot for daily play, the push-and-ride for outings. Convertible models that do both functions (parent handle attaches and detaches) are the best value if you want one car that does the job for 2–3 years.
How much do kids' cars cost in Australia?
Non-electric kids' cars at Simple Deals start from $50 for compact push cars. Most quality ride-on options sit between $100 and $300, with pedal cars and larger combination units running higher. All cars dispatch within 1–2 business days from our Australian warehouses.
What most sites won't admit
Almost every kids' car sold online in Australia is imported from China — including ours. The real difference is not where the car is made, it's what happens after it lands in Australia. Marketplaces dropship straight from overseas containers, which is why "fast delivery" stretches into six weeks. We import in bulk, hold stock across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, and ship from there.
The other thing nobody mentions: kids outgrow push cars faster than parents expect. A walker push car gets used hard for 4–6 months between standing-up and confident walking, then sits in a corner. Sit-and-scoot ride-ons get 18–24 months of use. Pedal cars get the longest run — 3–4 years of regular use. If you have one child, buy mid-range and accept the short use window. If you have multiple kids 12–18 months apart, the same push car passes between siblings and is genuinely worth a higher-quality buy.
Frequently asked questions
What if my car arrives damaged?
Contact us within 7 days with photos. We will arrange a replacement or refund under the 12-month warranty. Transit damage is uncommon with boxed kids' cars.
How long does assembly take?
Push cars and sit-and-scoot ride-ons: 10–20 minutes. Push-and-ride convertibles: 20–40 minutes. Pedal cars: 45–90 minutes. Tools and instructions are included.
How long does delivery take?
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane: 3–5 business days. Perth and Adelaide: 5–8 days. Regional and remote areas: 7–14 days.
Can I pay with Afterpay, Zip or PayPal?
Yes, all three. A $200 kids' car works out to four payments of $50 with Afterpay, four payments of $50 with PayPal Pay in 4, or roughly $17 a month with Zip over 12 months. Klarna is also available.
What's the warranty?
12 months on manufacturing defects, plus 15-day returns on unassembled cars in original packaging.
Complete the kids' wheels collection
A push or pedal car handles the no-battery riding fun, and a few pieces round out the kids' wheels. Most parents add three at the same time: an electric ride-on for older kids who want a powered car, a bike or trike for active pedalling, and a scooter for footpath cruising.
