Office Chair
An office chair is the one piece of office furniture your body is in contact with all day, so adjustability and support matter far more than the look. We stock over 200 office chairs — ergonomic mesh chairs, executive chairs, task chairs and standing-desk stools — from around $62, with most ergonomic options between $100 and $300. Stock is held across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, so orders dispatch within 1-2 business days.

What types of office chairs are available?
Office chairs fall into a few main types, and the right one depends on how long you sit and what you need from the chair. An ergonomic mesh chair has a breathable mesh back and multiple adjustment points, which suits long work hours and warm Australian rooms. An executive chair has a high padded back in leather or PU, and suits a formal office or a chair used for shorter stretches. A task chair is a simpler adjustable chair for light or occasional use, and works well at a study desk. A standing-desk stool has a tilting seat that pairs with a sit-stand desk for active sitting. Match the type to your hours at the desk, not just the price.
What should I look for in an ergonomic office chair?
An ergonomic office chair should give you at least four adjustment points: seat height, armrest height, lumbar support and recline. Lumbar support is the one that matters most, because poor lower-back support is the most common cause of desk-related back pain — look for built-in or adjustable lumbar rather than a flat backrest. Seat depth of 42–50cm suits most people, with taller users needing 50cm or more. Mesh backs stay cooler than padded fabric, which is worth having through summer.
Quick buyer's checklist
- Adjustment points: At least four — seat height, armrest, lumbar, recline
- Lumbar support: Built-in or adjustable, not a flat backrest
- Seat depth: 42–50cm for most people, 50cm-plus for tall users
- Gas lift class: Class 3 or 4 cylinder — see below
- Weight capacity: Standard 100–120kg, heavy-duty 150–180kg
- Mesh or fabric: Mesh runs cooler, fabric feels softer
How do I choose the right office chair height?
The seat height should let you sit with your feet flat on the floor, thighs parallel to the ground and knees at about 90 degrees. Most adults need a seat height in the 41–52cm range, and the gas lift should cover that span. Use the guide below to match your height to a seat range before ordering.
| User Height | Seat Height Range | Best Chair Type |
|---|---|---|
| Under 165cm | 40–46cm | Standard ergonomic |
| 165–180cm | 43–50cm | Standard ergonomic |
| Over 180cm | 48–55cm | Tall ergonomic or executive |
How long does an office chair last?
A quality office chair lasts 7–10 years, while a cheap chair often fails within 2–3 years — and the gas lift cylinder is almost always the part that goes first. This is the detail most listings leave out: gas cylinders are graded by class. A Class 1 or 2 cylinder is rated for only 2–5 years of light use. A Class 3 cylinder is rated around 8 years, and a Class 4 lasts 10 years or more. Check the cylinder class on the spec sheet before buying — it is a better predictor of how long the chair lasts than the price.
What most furniture sites won't admit
Almost every office chair sold online in Australia is imported from China, Vietnam, Malaysia or Indonesia — including ours. Where the chair is made is not the real difference between online furniture retailers. What matters is what happens after the stock lands in Australia. Marketplaces dropship straight from an overseas container, which is why their "fast delivery" stretches into six weeks. We import in bulk, hold stock across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane warehouses, and ship from there — the same imported chair, dispatched in 1–2 business days.
Frequently asked questions
What if my office chair arrives damaged?
Contact us within 7 days with photos. We will arrange a replacement or refund under the 12-month warranty. Transit damage is uncommon with flat-pack chairs, and we work to resolve any claim quickly.
How long does office chair assembly take?
Most office chairs take 15–30 minutes to assemble, with tools and instructions included. Gaming and ergonomic chairs with armrest installation take 30–45 minutes.
How long does delivery take?
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane: 3–5 business days. Perth and Adelaide: 5–8 days. Regional and remote areas: 7–14 days.
Can I pay with Afterpay, Zip or PayPal?
Yes, all three. A $200 office chair works out to four payments of $50 with Afterpay, four payments of $50 with PayPal Pay in 4, or roughly $17 a month with Zip over 12 months. Klarna is also available.
What's the warranty?
12 months on manufacturing defects — covering gas lift failure, base cracks, mechanism faults and stitching. Normal upholstery wear is not covered. Plus 15-day returns on unassembled chairs in original packaging.
Complete your office
An office chair works best matched to the rest of the setup. Most buyers add three at the same time: an office desk at a height the chair suits, a standing desk if they want to alternate sitting and standing, and a filing cabinet to keep paperwork off the desktop.
