The other thing nobody mentions: back panel thickness. Cheap buffets use 3mm hardboard back panels that bow outward when loaded. Better units use 9-12mm MDF backs. If you're loading heavy crockery or wine bottles, the back panel is what stops the unit twisting out of square over time.
